Tattoo Prices: How Much Does a Tattoo Cost?

February 11, 2025

A tattoo is a lifelong piece of art, but how much does it actually cost? Tattoo prices vary based on size, style, artist, and placement. In this guide, we break down everything you need to know about tattoo costs, so you can walk into our shop prepared!

Tattoo Pricing: What to Expect

At BlackBear Ink, our starting prices range from €80 to €100, depending on the artist. This minimum price covers not just ink and needles but also hygiene and preparation—which are crucial!

Unlike some studios, we don’t charge hourly rates. Instead, we agree on a fixed price upfront, so you know exactly what to expect. Prices are based on size, style, detail, placement, and color usage.

What Affects the Cost of a Tattoo?

Several factors influence your tattoo price:

  • Artist Experience – Specialists or highly experienced artists often charge more.
  • Size – A small tattoo is more affordable than a full sleeve or backpiece.
  • Style & DetailMinimalist tattoos usually cost less than hyper-realistic or detailed designs.
  • Placement – Tattoos on ribs, hands, or feet may cost extra due to complexity.
  • Color Usage – Full-color tattoos require more time and ink, increasing the price.
  • Body Size – A sleeve on someone 5’2” is smaller than the same sleeve on someone 6’0”.

Why You Shouldn’t Choose the Cheapest Tattoo
